Welcome to the oldest new church in Covington

Photo of church interior

We are an old church: Covington Community Church of the Brethren began as a group of Christians who gathered in the early days of Covington. They met in a coal mine break room. Then they met in a chicken coop. Then these believers built a church with their own hands, with lumber milled from local trees. All this took place decades before the strip malls and traffic that are so much a part of the landscape of Covington. You can find more here.

But we are a new church: After almost closing in 2009, we are experiencing a rebirth. So while our building is old, our family of faith is new. Most of us have been here less than 2 years. We are finding new life in Christ, mending what is broken, and partnering with our community. We are a lot like "stone soup:" an eclectic, earnest, imperfect, hospitable, fixer-upper-group of people who are trying to follow Jesus together.

So this website - much like our lives - is always under construction. We hope this virtual space gives you an idea of who we are, who we've been, and who by God's grace we are becoming.

We meet each Sunday for Adult Sunday School and kids activities at 10:00 A.M.

Available for weddings, memorials, classes, and community groups

One of the ways we connect with our local community is by sharing our space. We have a traditional, intimate, chapel-like sanctuary that is great for weddings, as well as a convenient venue for receptions. We welcome one-time events like community meetings, memorial services, classes and trainings. We also host ongoing meetings like Scouts, recovery groups, church plants, and more. If you're interested, contact us by calling 253-631-9090, or by emailing Jeremy@CovingtonCommunityChurch.org.
